OIKOS INSTITUTE PUBLISHES ANNUAL STATEMENT: FROM BIJELJINA TO THE EUROPEAN RESEARCH AREA

Oikos Institute – Research Centre in Bijeljina releases its annual statement at the close of 2025, proudly presenting results that demonstrate how dedicated, honest, and systematic work can reach the standards of Europe’s most advanced academic institutions — even when emerging from a small but highly ambitious community.

Throughout 2025, we continued to strengthen our international reputation and scientific contribution through the work of our journal Economics – Innovative and Economics Research Journal, indexed in Scopus Q1 / Scimago Q2 category. The journal recorded growth in visibility and citations and attracted authors from more than forty countries worldwide.
Strict editorial standards, a responsible approach, and clearly defined ethical principles have enabled the academic community to recognize us as a trustworthy and respected publisher.

In 2025, Oikos Institute affirmed its role as an institution that goes beyond a local academic framework. Today, we are:

  • an internationally recognized research centre, 🌎

  • an active and reliable partner in COST Actions, 🔗
  • an editorial and organizational reference point in the field of economics and social sciences, 📝

We emphasize that all our achievements represent a direct contribution to the development of Bijeljina, the Republic of Srpska, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although originating from a modest local environment, our institution has proven that high-quality scientific work can flourish outside major university centres and significantly enhance the international visibility of our region.

Plans for 2026 

In the year ahead, we will continue with strategic development and the expansion of our activities by:

  • launching new international research projects and partnerships, 🌐🤝
  • further improving the journal’s digital infrastructure and publishing standards, 💻📘
  • strengthening cooperation with European universities, institutes, and research networks, 🏫🔬
  • organizing scientific conferences and educational programs for researchers and students, 🎓📅
  • expanding the editorial and reviewer teams to maintain the highest principles of academic ethics. 🧑‍🏫⚖️

Our goal in 2026 is not only to preserve the level we have achieved but to elevate it further and reaffirm Oikos Institute as one of the leading independent research institutions in the region, contributing to scientific development and enhancing the reputation of Bijeljina, the Republic of Srpska, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the international academic sphere. 📊🌍
